M&O 264 Model
(On original Info sheet)

This miniature steam locomotive was designed and made in the year of 1932 by Rev. Frank D. DeLaBAR, now retired locomotive engineer of the Gulf, Mobile And Ohio Railroad Company. The boiler is made of white cypress. Pilot, headlight, smokestack, sandbox, steam dome, Cab, tank, running boards, driving wheels, rods, pistons, cylinder saddle, and all other parts of machinery were made of common white pine.
Cut out with a pocket knife and put together with glue, tacks and screws. It has the old style Stevenson link motion and gets its power by means of a eccentric attached to the main driving axial. Fuel capacity: tank holds about one gallon water and four pounds of coal.
Total weight in case, one hundred pounds. About three months time was used in its construction.
At a regular meeting of the city council on December 1st 1953, it was presented as a gift to the city by: Mr. DeLaBAR, and was accepted by Mr. W.S. Smylie, mayor of the city of Meridian. It remains a permanent fixture as a memorial to our city and is dedicated to the honor and memory of its many railroad employees who helped to make our great city what it is today.
